TAG-Rugby Courses for Children TAG Rugby is a safe, fun, exciting, non-contact version of the traditional game of rugby. It is suitable for both boys and girls of all abilities aged 7 and up. Players do not need any previous knowledge of rugby to get started, making it ideal for beginners and young children. There are no scrums, line-outs or tackling allowed in TAG Rugby and the game can be played with teams as small as 4 or 5 a-side. Each player wears a belt to which two velcro tags are attached. Instead of physically tackling the player, the opponent simply pulls one of the tags off the belt. The interchangeable nature of possession leads to rapid switching from attack to defence, which means that a range of skills are cultivated and developed. Co-operation, integration and determination, along with individual and collective responsibility are all key elements experienced and learnt in the game of TAG Rugby. While being a safe way of introducing youngsters to contact rugby, the game of TAG Rugby is becoming an increasingly popular game in its own right, reflected by the growing number of adult leagues (both social and competitive). TAG Rugby has been recognised by the RFU (Rugby Football Union) as ‘The Game for the New Millennium’. So why not try it out? We currently offer TAG Rugby sessions to schools during lunchtime, lesson time and we also run after-school clubs at many local schools. All of our coaches are TAG Rugby qualified, CRB checked and first aid trained. If you would be interested in either an after-school or weekend TAG Rugby session please get in touch! |
